Custom Toy Union recently released a new design for their Assassin Series. There were a few vectoring issues that needed to be worked out, but all is well with Rusted Halo's Capt. Dornburg figure and I must say, the toy looks pretty dope! I can't wait to see the series up close at San Diego Comic Con 2010! I'll be by the Dragatomi booth to say hi, will you?

Vectoring issue? I don't think so. The real issue was that the "original" design was a straight up rip off of Dok A's work. Not only that, but then they tried to play it off like if it wasn't. Even Dok A stepped in to ask why they were allowing an obvious rip off to be sold and passed off as an original design, and needless to say he wasn't happy. You can checkout more details of what really went down on the Kidrobot forums. Shame on rusted halo, and shame on CTU for allowing it to happen and not admitting to what they did. Don't support this horrible series.

ReplyDeleteGet angry at those running the series, they're the ones who allowed that rip off design be presented as an original design and then went on the defensive instead of admitting their mistake. Sorry but it left it as a horribley run series as a whole. There were very few decent designs to begin with, but after this ordeal I wouldn't care if they were all spectacular designs, I'm not going to support this piece of crap series.

ReplyDeleteThe issue WAS with the vector as that was the only thing done. I hadn't even started on the actual Dunny. I talk to Bruce(Doktor A) and tried to work with him to make it to his likings as I have respect for him as an artist. I don't appreciate people running their mouths when they don't know what's going on. I've been doing customs in the Steampunk genre for 4 years now and Bruce doesn't own the copyrights to everything Steampunk. My design had some elements that when the vector image was done looked a lot like Bruce's work. Nobody was trying to pull a fast one and rip anybody off. Even with the changes you see above stupid little KR bitches wouldn't shut up. This design will NOT be a part of the CTU series. I will release it on my own at SDCC and it will NOT be available at Dragatomi. I hold no ill will towards CTU or Dragatomi and neither should anybody else. The folks at CTU are some of the most professional people I've dealt with. Please support this awesome series and if you have a problem with me or my design come talk to me about it.
